WP2: Integration and validation of models

 

 

Objective

Develop a computational model integrating value chain and biogas and environmental models for decision support at management and national level.

 

Method

For each stage in biomass treatment, storage and end-use, the models must be able to calculate the mass balances of each component in the organic matter pool, while calculations of treated waste from a process unit must provide data characterising the pools of organic matter needed in model calculations downstream from that unit. Furthermore, the outcome of the biomass computations (WP3, WP4) and of the economic models (WP5)must be in a format suitable for the value chain computations (WP1). The results of the computations will be validated using data on economics, biogas production and waste composition from two biogas plants (including the costs for collection of the waste and profits from selling the biogas to different end-users).

 

Result

Decision support for biogas plant management and regional/national decision making.
